Math

Please explain each of the new concepts to your child and make sure they understand the idea.  Place value to 1000 may be a bit of a challenge. They need to understand this because in the next chapter they will start adding and subtracting three digit numbers.

Grammar

This week we will focus on just reinforcing what we’ve learned for the last few weeks. They are to analyze the sentence given to them for the particular day and parse a few chosen words from that sentence. Also they will be asked to give some examples of nouns, verbs, and adjectives.

Example:  The white fluffy dog ate the large delicious bone outside.

In this sentence your child should be able to label the subject, the verb, the direct object, articles, and adjectives.

Catechism

Chapter 16. The First Commandment of God. They will spend the whole week doing something with this lesson. Please have them take turns reading part of this lesson with you. Each day they will have an assignment to do on a separate piece of paper. Most of the Questions need to be answered in a complete sentence. Please have them pose the answer out loud to you before writing it down. We have been working on forming complete sentences all year long. Your child may need a bit of guidance while doing this.

Reading

Little House in the Big Woods   Please have them read about 5 pages a day out loud to you. Some words and concepts may need more explaining than other words. This is a most enjoyable book and its one of my favorite books to read with students. I will try to send little worksheets that make it more interactive for your child and you, to explore some ideas with this book.

Penmanship

We are trying to master cursive by the end of this year. Your child may be one of the ones that it has become second nature to them and they don’t seem to struggle with it. If your child is one that seems to be struggling with it that is ok. Let’s keep practicing.

For this week I am sending worksheets that just practice letters.

TUESDAY, 3-31-20

Math – pages 363-364
Grammar – worksheet #2
Catechism – on a separate sheet of paper properly set up children. Full form of the date!!!.... do the Discussion Questions on page 80: answer them in a complete sentence. ( Remember a sentence begins with a CAPITAL LETTER and ends with a PERIOD!!!!!!)
Reading – read the next 5 pages out loud
Penmanship – practice one page of cursive letters

WEDNESDAY, 4-1-20

Math – pages 365-368
Grammar – worksheet #3
Catechism –on a separate sheet of paper properly set up children. Full form of the date!!!.......do the yes or no questions.

Catechism – on a separate piece of paper do Fill in the blank. Please write the whole thing out and underline the word that is suppose to go in the blank.

FRIDAY, 4-3-20

Catechism – Draw a picture of this lesson on the piece of construction paper provided. Draw a neat picture then color it neatly!! NO SCRIBBLING
Reading – next 5 pages… then illustrate a scene from this week that you read about. Draw the picture on the piece of blank paper provided.
Penmanship – practice one page of cursive letters.

Copy Dictation – Copy neatly the dictation on the paper provided. This needs to be written in cursive.

Math – Check Your Progress, pages 395-396
Poetry – Missing. Read poem out loud. Think about what the poem is talking about. Parents please help your child with what this fun little poem is talking about. After discussing it draw a few pictures on the paper provided with the poem that is attached to it. Draw neatly and color it.
Reading – Answer questions on the reading worksheet. Questions 2 – 4. Answer in complete sentences.
