Class Information for March 17th through March 27th:
Religion
I did send home two weeks worth of Religion questions for your children. However, this work is not to be done all at once. Please see below for the breakdown of how I would like your children to complete this work.
Monday, March 16th - Monday,
March 23rd: this will be the time that
your children will have to study the following questions. Lesson 10: Q. 130, 131,
132 If it is possible, please do discuss these questions with your children.
There may be things that they won't understand and an explanation would be
crucial to their learning of the material.
Monday, March 23rd: Please
give your children Test
23: The Moral Virtues. Please only allow them a maximum of 50 minutes to
complete their test. Please turn in this test on Friday, March 27th
Monday, March 23rd - Friday, March 27th: this
will be the time that your children will have to study the following questions. Lesson
11: Q. 136, 137, 138, 139, 140, 141, 142 If it is possible, please do discuss
these questions with your children. There may be things that they won't
understand and an explanation would be crucial to their learning of the
material.
Friday, March 27th: Please
give your children Test
24: The Catholic Church. Please only allow them a maximum of 50 minutes to
complete their test. Please turn in this test on Friday, April 3rd
Poetry
Wednesday, March 18th:
Have your children cut out and paste their
new poem,
Written in March, into their poetry notebooks. Read through it with them and
discuss the poem.
Thursday, March 19th - Tuesday, March 24th: Have your
children study their poem for at least 20 minutes every day. Check for good
expression and make sure they are paying attention to the punctuation in the
poem.
Wednesday, March 25th: We may have a Zoom session to
allow the students to recite their poems, more on that as the details are worked
out.
Grammar
This Grammar work will be due on: Monday, March 23rd
Wednesday, March 18th:
The material the 3rd graders are working on this week is in Lesson 31 A and 31
B: Possessive Case and Possessive Plural of Nouns Continued
Grammar Exercises: First, do a couple sentences with your children and
review the concept with them, making sure that they understand what to do. Then
they can complete the
Grammar Exercises worksheet.
Thursday, March 19th: Directed Work:
Have your children complete the
Directed Work worksheet. Allow them a maximum of 40 minutes to complete the
worksheet.
Friday, March 20th: Grammar Test:
Have your children complete the
Grammar Test. Allow them a maximum of 40 minutes to complete the test.

Monday, March 23rd:
This week the 3rd graders will be working
on Lesson 33: Phrases.
I would like to have a Zoom class with them so
that I can introduce this concept, I'll send more info on that when the details
are worked out.
Tuesday, March 24th:
If possible, we'll have a Zoom class so I can reinforce what they learned on
Monday, so that they'll be better prepared to proceed on their own with the
other assigned work for the rest of the week.
Wednesday, March 25th: Grammar
Exercises: First, do a couple
sentences with your children and review the concept with them, making sure that
they understand what to do. Then they can complete the

Dictation. You place the text in front of them and they copy it in pen and
in their neatest handwriting on a separate sheet of lined paper. Have them also
write out an answer to the question that follows the Copy Dictation.

Friday, March 20th: Have your children do the
Auto
Dictation. You have them copy the text on a separate sheet of lined paper.
Then they will have from Friday, March 20th until Monday, March 23rd to study
the text. It is important that they follow this time frame.
Tuesday, March 24th: Your children will write their Auto
Dictation from memory on a separate sheet of paper.
Reading
Have your children read aloud from their book "Farmer Boy". It is very important that they read out loud to someone who can help them if they are struggling to know how to pronounce a word or more importantly struggling to understand what is going on in the story. Retelling
The Retelling will be due on: Friday, March 27th
Thursday, March 26th: Do the following
Retelling
exercise with your children. You only read the passage three times with your
children.
Remind your children: The first time you read through it they should be
listening to the "big picture" and letting the words "paint a picture in their
mind."
The second time you read through it they should be listening for the chain of
events. In what order do they happen?
The third and final time you read through it they should be listening to the
details of the story.
Once you have finished reading the story the third time they will write it down
from memory on a separate sheet of lined paper.

Poetry
Monday, March 30th: Have your children cut out and paste their new poem, A Leader in Battle, into their poetry notebooks. Read through it with them and discuss the poem.
They only have to memorize the first three stanzas of the
poem.
Tuesday, March 31th - Thursday, April 2nd:
Have your children study their poem for at least 20 minutes every day. Check for
good expression and make sure they are paying attention to the punctuation in
the poem.
Friday, April 3rd: I will have a Zoom class with the students to test them on their poetry.

Have your children read the Composition topic and then answer the prompt in complete sentences. Their composition should have at least 5 sentences.
